My Summer Goals and Challenges

My Summer Goals and Challenges

If I was given a chance to customize myself, I would customize my brain.

This is because it is adorned by useless stuff that it needn’t know. One thing I would do, is programme our brains to learn on their own, while our body fully functions and we engage in productivity. Well since school was off for the summers; I seized my chances to fulfill my longings. And the climb to the top was rather questionable, emblazed with commotion.

Firstly, I had to be mindful of my final result for Year 6, considering which I also had to be conscious of how I let it seemingly affect me in front of others; because when you end up with a bad result, seldom are you motivated to thrive along the summers. For me personally, the report card waged some fruitful results. I was happy, yes, but now I had to work on the yearnings I longed for, and my internal voice wouldn’t cease its whispers to spend the early stages of the summer in peace, and of course, motivating me to engage in the big gun, VIDEO GAMES. I simply wanted to work towards my dreams as soon as the summers started, but unfortunately for me, my brain knows the damage that every gun in Fortnite, the video game, does; and this got a hold of me, but at the start only.

In mid-June, I knew the summers were not a lifelong ride. So I confiscated my phone…from myself which is weird, if you think about it, but this simply had to be done. I made a list of goals I was headed towards, because let’s be real, you can never live your dreams, if you do not work for them. Everything in life is earned. And I learned that. The list I made included:

  • I have to make my way up to the A-team at my football club.
  • I have to limit my consumption of unhealthy foods.
  • I have to develop calves to increase my shot power so that goalkeepers fear me (they already do).
  • I have to improve my literary skills and work towards my reading, more than I used to.

I am currently one of the top players in my Football academy’s boys team-B. And football is a treasure, for me at least. And it attracts me more than anything else. And if I’m being real, Strikers FC is in need of a genuinely exciting prospect. And I thought I could earn that role in the A-team and fill the holes. Did I make progress? I’ll get on to that later on. But the second goal was because they make us experience intensity in the academy, and it transforms us to the newest version of Stan Lee. But then there is our diet; frantically combating our health, fitness, and body.

Well eventually, I got the best out of myself. And, I did it. It was a gravely hard path, but the end product was worth it and my dietary habits are currently untroubled. But I expect them to go downhill rapidly, with the first tick of the clock in the classroom. But for now, I have overcome my challenges. It was difficult. I used to order food a lot, but I made up for it. And I suppose my mom was extremely proud of her son, because she interrupts my dream by rebutting,” You’ve grown weak, young man.” There is good and bad coming from this. The good is that she called me man, meaning I now appear physically mature to people. But the bad is that she cares for me a lot ( and no, I’m not bragging), and currently is my only opposition in this quest. But she is my mother and she knows best what is good for me.

But finally, the one I was most excited about. Developing a good pair of legs to generate some shot power. And oh boy! everything has been jolly good. Because now, I have total guns loaded up down my legs (also not a brag). Enough, in fact, more than enough to overcome the goalkeepers. But it was, without a doubt, the hardest goal to achieve out of my list. The best way I figured out to achieve this one was by running down the football pitch in the academy as much as I could. AND it was hell itself, encrusted in my leg muscles. I snapped through the sidelines and even practiced on my own in the footsul arriving an hour earlier than the beginning of our under-

13 age category session. But the practice really did pay off.

And finally, the one I wanted the most. The one you and I are most excited about; the journey to the top tier!

The A-team consists of great football players, no doubt, but if they promote me it would certainly be of advantage to them. What happens in the academy, is that the kids that lack certain skills are divided within the C-team. Kids that are great at football fulfill the B-team. But kids that are definitely born for football and excellent at the game earn a place in that group. I am qualified enough to be among those kids, I just need an opportunity.

Well I suppose the coaches are spying on me on their scavenging for a new talent, and in the midst heard my pleas. Three groups, play separately. The C-team plays in the footsul, and the B and A teams divide the bigger ground from the center line. Sometimes, on very rare events, the B-team and A-team spend a combined session. This happened three times during the summer. The first occurrence was back in June. That was my prime and I touched my arsenal. And the A-team coaches definitely noticed that. And I’m not shy to tell you that I delivered a magnificent result, scoring two goals and

making an assist to my fellow wingman playing on the right flank. The coaches were delighted, of course, to witness my progress. Back then, I was most motivated to achieve my goals.

However, in June and August, I couldn’t even score a goal. But I did affect the scoresheet in July. How? I let the opponents score by a horrendous pass that I played, which ended up costly to my team. I blundered the game. In August, I was decent on the pitch and played well. But trust me. Trust me! Had I not missed that chance of a goal that I fully created myself, my spot in the A-team, would not have been the only wish on this evil list, which remains unsatisfied. The coach just gave me a smile and a pep talk. And I could tell he was somewhat disappointed because I had revived my form after the night I do not want to remember.

But let’s move on to the final goal and the challenges along the way because this isn’t entirely about football. I wanted to improve my linguistic skills; so I read tons of books during the summer, my favourite one turning out to be “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. And when it comes to improving my literary skills, I suppose I have done a good job in my pursuit to improve them. But I will only entirely know, if this piece of writing is uploaded on the Millennium Buzz website. Until then, I will sit and wait.
