Cancer
There’s a disease among us,
Seeping into the cracks of mind,
Of both young & old,
Killing people slowly,
While they carry on their day,
Unaware.
There’s a disease among us,
Seeping into the hearts of people,
Both men & women.
Slowly cutting off
All connections to life,
Silently, painfully.
There’s a disease among us,
Removing all hopes
And dreams ruthlessly
Of all little children,
Once playing around.
Now in bed in a white room.
With strangers trying to save them.
As they sit there innocently & close their eyes,
Never open them again.
There’s a disease among us,
But so is a fight,
Fighting against the cruel killer
The killer of children, young and old.
